Huge congratulations to the incredible Emma, who didn’t just pass her driving test today—she absolutely conquered it! 🚗💨
Emma’s journey is a proper "full circle" story. After an attempt a few years back, she headed off to the States to smash her PhD. 🎓 Returning home, she decided it was time to "get this thing done"—and boy, did she ever!
Despite the heavens opening and the most dreadful rainy conditions, Emma delivered a FLAWLESS drive. The examiner’s verdict? Zero faults and the easiest pass he’s ever given, even in the worst possible weather! 🌧️🙌
How did she do it? Aside from being an absolute natural, Emma used our Sunderland Loop tutorial video for inspiration, singing the song through every practice session! (Maybe that’s the secret PhD level study hack? 🎶)
As a massive Sunderland supporter and a total joy to teach, Emma has been a highlight for her instructor, Peter. You might also recognise her from our legendary Taylors Pork Pie skit—seriously, if you haven’t been to Durham to try one yet, what are you waiting for?! 🥧🏆
Emma is now on the hunt for her first car to kickstart her next chapter of travels. We’re so proud of you, Dr. Emma! We’ll hopefully see you back for PassPlus soon.

It’s always a bit nerve-racking when the examiner gets into the car and sits next to you on test day, isn’t it? So imagine how thrilled local artist Sarah was when the test centre manager climbed into the back seat to accompany the one in the front? Gulp.
Not to worry, though, as Sarah sailed through her driving test today with zero driving faults and a glowing tribute from the examiner.
During the debriefing, the examiner told her that it was an “excellent drive” and then added “And what was particularly impressive…” as he explained how Sarah dealt with a car that dangerously overtook her on a mini roundabout. The examiner noted that Sarah had used her mirrors effectively to spot the car behind her, and was ready to slow the car down safely to avoid any potential accident. “Very impressive, indeed” he repeated.
A faultless round doesn’t happen by accident, and Sarah has spent a lot of time and effort getting ready for today’s test. She also mentioned that watching the Only Automatic driving route videos helped with the independent driving section of the test, as she was told to follow a variation of the relatively new test route, which she studied before her test.
Sarah didn’t want any old backdrop for her photo, so she chose something that always makes her smile every time we pass it on the way back to her home. She’s certainly got plenty to smile about today.
Congratulations, Sarah. ADI Ian commented that you were a delight to teach, a very interesting and funny student, and modesty personified. Stay safe, and we’ll see you on the roads.

Sophie is So Fly
When you have to work hard for something, doesn’t it always feel better when you finally achieve it? So when the examiner gave Sophie the news that she’d passed her driving test today, you could see that it meant more to her than just a piece of paper - it was the result of much blood, sweat and roundabout tears. Her pass was thoroughly deserved, too, as she only ended up with three driving faults after an excellent drive.
Her son, Joshua, will be delighted that he no longer has to walk home from school anymore, and with Sophie’s brother coming home from Dubai today, it’s sure to be a family celebration worth waiting for.
Congratulations once again, Sophie - it’s been a pleasure to help you reach your goal over the last few months, and I hope that your car rolls off your driveway very soon. Take care, stay safe, and I’ll see you on the roads.

Yet another Mo-mentous occasion! Mo is on a serious roll lately—it’s like he has a secret "pass" button hidden in that car.

🚗 Another Mo-tivational Masterclass!
A massive shout-out to Jake, who didn’t just pass his test— he absolutely smashed it! Jake secured a first-time pass with a tiny 3 minors. That’s what we call Mo-mentum at its finest!
As a parts technician over at Nissan, Jake already knows his way around a vehicle, but Mo helped him put all those pieces together into one smooth driving machine. Being another fellow Sunderland fan, we’re sure there was plenty of "Ha'way the lads" chat during the lessons to keep the vibes high. 🔴⚪️
Jake joined us at Only Automatic after hearing some glowing recommendations, and he’s loved every second of the journey. From the first lesson to that final celebratory handshake, it’s been a Mo-st excellent experience.
Jake, we know you’re itching to get on the road and swap the factory floor for the open tarmac. We couldn't be happier for you!

Never a Dull Moment
February days tend to be a little dark and gloomy, but that didn’t stop Silksworth superstar Terri wearing her (fake) fur coat and sunglasses and passing her driving test at the first attempt today. She ‘smashed it’ just like her son, Conan, predicted she would.
After such an assured and calm drive, with only a few driving faults, the examiner commented that: ‘The test all came together lovely’. Terri even had the examiner laughing, as she spotted two magpies on the way back in to the test centre, and said that she hoped it was ‘two for joy’ which it turned out to be just a couple of minutes later when she was given the good news that she’d passed.
With her sister in hospital due to give birth today, Terri has much to celebrate, and even though at times she doubted that she could do it, her determination has paid off in style with the result she has worked so hard for.
Congratulations once again, Terri. Instructor Ian will most definitely miss your shared laughs on the road, and make sure you give him a wave when you buy that new Audi. Good luck, stay safe, and we’ll see you on the roads.

Another Pass for Mandy. This Time at Blyth Driving Test Centre!
Richard has successfully passed his driving test on his third attempt, much to the great delight and relief of his partner. With his brand-new licence now safely in hand, he can confidently take full charge of all the driving duties to and from work, as well as on weekends when they go out for walks with their dogs. This significant achievement marks yet another proud success for Instructor Mandy at the Blyth Driving Test Centre, highlighting her continued dedication and commitment to helping learners become safe, skilled, and confident drivers.

Another first-time pass for Instructor Rubel! Doctor Elghamrawy has made remarkable progress throughout his driving lessons, culminating in passing his test with only a single driving fault. This achievement is a testament to his dedication and hard work, combined with the expert guidance provided by Instructor Rubel. When life deals you lemons….
Nearly a year ago, Neil experienced a significant life event that temporarily affected his full driving licence. To regain his confidence and ensure his skills remained sharp, Neil took a few refresher lessons with Peter. Throughout these sessions, he worked incredibly hard and demonstrated the lifelong driving skills he has always maintained.
Neil’s dedication paid off with a successful assessment carried out by the wonderful team at North East Drive Mobility. Their professionalism and support were second to none – truly the best in the region.
Life dealt Neil lemons, but he learned to make lemonade.
Holly has a Good Day!
Holly from Washington passed her driving test today on her very first attempt, achieving just one minor error. It has been a long and rewarding journey, but her dedicated effort has truly paid off in the end. She is now able to take her two children anywhere they wish to go, leaving behind the inconvenience and waiting associated with buses.
Holly has been an absolute pleasure to work with throughout this entire process, and we have enjoyed every moment of her training. We look forward to seeing her confidently out on the road. Another fine pass for our proud instructor Kevin!

Khanh Trung successfully passed his Automatic Driving Test today, recording only a couple of driving faults. Amy, works in finance and investments Newcastle, is moving into a new house with her partner. No doubt there's going to be a battle as to who's going to drive the family Volkswagen id3! Kyra makes her own bit of history
Kyra passed today with a single fault after falling out with manual driving a couple of years ago. Kyra recently became a Mum, a full time History teacher so the need for a Driving License became the next priority - and now we have it! Her instructor Tony is so so proud of her achievement
